Manchester United is the preferred destination of Real Madrid star Gareth Bale if he leaves the Spanish giants this summer, according to Bleacher Report.

The sports news website claim that Bale has viewed United as his next potential club for the last couple of years and that he would be open to a transfer if the English giants made a move.

The Manchester Evening News linked Jose Mourinho’s side with a move for the Welsh winger earlier this month, claiming that he was next in line after their pursuit of French forward Antoine Griezmann came to a grinding halt.

Under contract at the Santiago Bernabeu until 2022, Bale suffered an injury plagued season in the last campaign, making just 27 appearances, scoring nine goals and chipping in with five assists.

He moved to Spain from Tottenham for a then-world-record transfer fee of £85million, and has gone on to play in 150 matches for Los Blancos, hitting the back of the net with 67 goals and providing 51 assists.

Bale also has 66 caps for his country, having made his debut as a 16-year-old back in 2006 in a 2-1 friendly win over Trinidad and Tobago, and has scored 26 goals so far.

United meanwhile are said to be on the verge of securing a move for Bale’s team mate Alvaro Morata, with Diario Gol claiming that the 24-year-old will complete a move in the coming hours.

Don Balon also report that they are also hoping to secure a deal for Real’s Columbian playmaker James Rodriguez, having tabled a £35million bid, but Fiorentino Perez has doubts over selling all his best stars to the Reds.
