Ligue 1 side Nice have held discussions with Manchester City forward Patrick Roberts over a potential loan deal this summer, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claims that the French outfit have been tracking the 20-year-old’s performances during his season long loan at Scottish Premier League champions Celtic last season.

Nice will be playing Champions League football next season and they reportedly believe that Roberts would be the ideal player to improve their squad.

It is reported that Nice will face competition as Celtic and newly-promoted Premier League side Huddersfield Town are also interested in signing the youngster this summer.

The Sun reports that City boss Pep Guardiola will be the one to have the final say on whether the forward will remain a member of the first-team squad for next season.

Roberts’ chances of becoming a City regular appear to be slim as the club have already signed attacking midfielder Bernardo Silva from Ligue 1 champions Monaco.

The youngster has spent two consecutive loan spells at Celtic Park and he has impressed with his fantastic displays.

The forward was essential in helping Celtic achieve a historic domestic treble last season as he made a total of 47 appearances in all competitions and scored 11 goals.

Roberts’ contract at the Etihad Stadium expires in the summer of 2020.
