Liverpool fans have reacted with barely concealed glee to speculation that the club have turned their attention to sign Borussia Dortmund sensation Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
French newspaper Le Parisien claim that the Premier League big guns are preparing to pay £61million to prise the prolific striker from the Bundesliga during the summer window.
It is said that Liverpool’s American owners FSG are ready to “strike hard” at the negotiating table and initial soundings have discovered that the lethal striker is open to moving to Anfield.
This appears the most concrete information yet that Liverpool could sign a player with a goal-a-game scoring record in 2016-17 and who is widely regarded as one of the world’s best in his position.
The Anfield faithful are excited at the possibility of Aubameyang linking up for a second time with Jurgen Klopp after the German managed him for two years at Dortmund from 2013 to 2015.

#Aubameyang link seems authentic, whether it develops is another story, Liverpool hardly great ‘closers’ when it comes to signings #LFC

Aubameyang was signed by Klopp from French club Saint Etienne for £11million in the summer of 2013 and has made a huge impact in Germany
The striker has scored 120 goals from 189 matches in four seasons for Dortmund and enhanced his reputation further by leading the Bundesliga charts in 2016-17 with 31 league goals from 32 matches and striking 40 times from 46 appearances in all competitions.
He has a contract at Dortmund that runs until 2020.
