Liverpool will table a bid on Sunday for Mohamed Salah that meets Roma’s asking price and will complete the deal, according to King Fut.

The Egyptian outlet claim that the Merseyside giants are preparing to lodge a £39.4million bid for the attacking midfielder, 25, after earlier offers were rejected.

King Fut report that Liverpool have accepted following crunch talks with Ramy Sabas, the agent of the Egypt international, that they “will have to break the bank” to land one of manager Jurgen Klopp’s top transfer targets.

It is said that Liverpool’s first bid came in at £28.5million for Salah but Roma have held firm in their valuation and the Premier League giants are now ready to pay another £11million to seal the deal.

There is now a strong possibility that the transfer can be sealed by Sunday night as Liverpool prepare to break their transfer record.

Andy Carroll is still the Merseyside giants’ record signing following his January 2011 move from Newcastle United for £35million, although add-ons could take Sadio Mane beyond that fee after he joined from Southampton 12 months ago for £34million rising to a potential £38million.

As far as the bookies are concerned, there is only one team in the race to sign Salah, who has been strongly linked with a move to Anfield in recent weeks.

Liverpool are odds on at 1/7, a long way ahead in the betting of their closest rivals Arsenal, who are a distant 28/1, with Tottenham (33/1) and Chelsea (40/1) also rank outsiders.

Roma director of football Monchi has gone as far as to confirm negotiations with a Premier League club, claiming the Serie A side are deciding their asking price.

“We don’t intend to sell players and we want to give the boss a competitive squad,” said Monchi.

“An English club likes Salah, and we’ll decide what price to set depending on the circumstances. If someone leaves, he’ll have to be replaced well. There are no open talks apart from Salah.”

The Egyptian has been pursued so strongly by Klopp on the back of an outstanding 2016-17 season for Roma in which he scored 19 goals and supplied 15 assists in 41 matches in all competitions, with 15 of his 31 goals coming in league matches alone.

He signed for the Italian outfit permanently in the summer of 2016 from Chelsea after initially impressing on a season-long loan.

Salah has rebuilt his reputation after struggling to make an impact at Stamford Bridge, where he moved from Swiss club Basle in January 2014.
