Premier League champions Chelsea will demand Liverpool pay £10million in compensation for striker Dominic Solanke following his exploits in the Under-20 World Cup, according to the Evening Standard.

Last month, Liverpool announced on their official website that the club had agreed terms with the 19-year-old.

Even though the striker is out of contract at Chelsea, the Merseyside club are entitled to pay Chelsea compensation for the player because he is currently under the age of 24.

However, the Standard claims that both Premier League teams cannot reach an agreement on the valuation as Chelsea are refusing to accept Liverpool’s £3million offer.

It is said that Chelsea were seeking around £8m, but following Solanke’s performances during the Under-20 World Cup tournament in South Korea, they’ve decided to up the ante.

The report claims that the case will go to a tribunal in July if Liverpool cannot agree a compensation fee.

This is not a new situation for Chelsea as the West London club had to pay Manchester City £2million when they signed Daniel Sturridge in 2010.

Chelsea were made to pay a further £2million to the Manchester club when the striker moved to Liverpool in 2013 as a sell-on clause was included.

Solanke played a star role in the Under-20s World Cup, finishing as the championship’s top goalscorer with four goals to his name.

The striker also received the Golden Ball award for being the best player of the tournament.
