Leicester City are preparing to blow Tottenham and Everton out of the water to sign Swansea ace Gylfi Sigurdsson this summer, according to a Sun report.
The newspaper claims the Foxes are ready to stump up £30million for the Icelandic midfielder, who was a star performer in Swansea’s disappointing 2016-17 campaign.
It is said Leicester are willing to pay the full asking price for the 27-year-old, while rivals Tottenham and Everton may only be prepared to stretch to £25million for the assist machine.
The Sun states Leicester want a deal for Sigurdsson wrapped up before they allow Riyad Mahrez to leave, with Arsenal leading the race to sign.
However, the Gunners will face competition for the signing of Mahrez from Tottenham, as well as French giants PSG and Monaco.
The 26-year-old is reportedly keen on a move to the Emirates given he is a “big admirer” of manager Arsene Wenger’s free-flowing brand of football.
This comes after a previous Sun report claimed Mahrez had begged his club to lower his £40million price tag so it would not ward off interest from Arsenal and their North London rivals.
The 30-time Algeria international was a mainstay in the Foxes’ midfield this term, making 47 appearances in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and supplying seven assists.
Meanwhile Sigurdsson enjoyed a fine season with Swansea, scoring 10 goals and providing 13 assists in his 40 league and cup games.
