David Prutton has pushed Exeter manager Paul Tisdale’s name forward when talking about the Leeds managerial vacancy.

The 44-year-old has been in charge of the south west side since 2006 and only Arsene Wenger has been at the same club for a longer amount of time in English football.

Leeds, meanwhile are on the search for their seventh manager in three years following the resignation of Garry Monk in May.

Now, former midfielder Prutton has told that he is trying to find a more “left field option” for the Yorkshire giants from the usual names being linked, which led to him naming Tisdale and speaking positively of the League Two boss.

“I’m trying to think lower down the list with regards to maybe someone a bit younger and a bit left field and what people have done,” told Prutton, as quoted by the Yorkshire Evening Post.

“I hear very good things about Paul Tisdale.

“He works in a structure, he has got a lot of control at the club that he is at and, while I know he has done that at Exeter City, if you are looking for someone young and hungry and from a coaching standard of a very high calibre.”

Since Tisdale’s appointment at Exeter in the summer of 2006 he has helped the club win promotion from the Conference and even took them up to League One in 2009 where they remained for three years before suffering relegation in 2012.

He has since suffered four mid-table finishes in League Two before a play-off final defeat against Blackpool last season.

Tisdale himself may now feel that it is time to leave Exeter, but Leeds fans will surely want a bigger name to replace Monk as they aim to return to the Premier League.
