Thomas Christiansen should raid his former side APOEL Nicosia for a handful of their senior stars after replacing Garry Monk at Leeds.

The 44-year-old was a surprise choice made by owner Andrea Radrizzani on Thursday, after Monk decided to resign from the Yorkshire giants and has since joined Championship rivals Middlesbrough.

A two-time Spain international during his playing career, Christiansen spent a year in charge of APOEL and built a strong rapport with the side that has secured a fifth consecutive league title.

But Christiansen could now dismantle APOEL’s side by bringing five of their senior stars to Yorkshire this summer, as he looks to take Leeds into the top flight of English football.
