Premier League new boys Huddersfield Town are eyeing a loan swoop for Manchester City ace Patrick Roberts, according to a Daily Record report.

The newspaper claims Terriers manager David Wagner is interested in offering the 20-year-old right-sided attacker the chance to play in the Premier League.

It is said Roberts is due back in pre-season training with City and then manager Pep Guardiola will make a decision on his future.

The report states if Guardiola does not see the 20-year-old as a part of his long term plans at City, he would prefer to sell him on a permanent deal, in an attempt to recoup some of the £12m paid to Fulham for him in 2013.

The report also states that Ligue 1 outfit Nice are eyeing Roberts, as are Celtic, the club where he has spent the last 18 months.

However, the Hoops would have to break their transfer record to sign the Englishman permanently, and Huddersfield would prefer to bring him in on a short-term deal.

The 20-year-old was one of the Bhoys’ top performers last term, scoring 11 goals in 47 league and cup games, as well as supplying 19 assists.

He joined the club on loan in January 2016, and during his extended loan spell at Parkhead, he made 60 appearances in all competitions, which yielded 17 goals and 21 assists.
