Everton have completed the signing of Ajax ace Davy Klaassen for £23.6million, it has been confirmed.

The confirmation comes after a Mirror report claimed last week that the Toffees were close to a deal for Klaassen, after manager Ronald Koeman had named him as a priority transfer target.

The Merseysiders announced the news on their official website and on their official Twitter account on Thursday night that the 24-year-old midfield kingpin had put pen-to-paper on a five-year contract.

Klaassen was one of Ajax’s top performers last term, scoring 20 goals in 50 appearances in all competitions, as well as supplying 12 assists.

He also skippered the side last season, and represented the club in the Champions League on four occasions, and scored four goals.

The Dutchman was utilised in a number of positions by the Dutch giants’ manager Peter Bosz in the 2016-17 campaign, and he played as a defensive midfielder, as a box-to-box midfielder and as a attacking midfielder.

cKlaassen broke into the club’s first team in the summer of 2012, and he has since played 180 league and cup games, which have yielded 55 goals and 38 assists.

The 24-year-old has been capped 14 times by the Netherlands, and has scored four goals, one of which came in the 5-0 friendly thrashing of Ivory Coast in April of this year.
