Everton set for £17.5m swoop for Kalinic

|

Everton are lining up a £17.5million summer swoop for Gent goalkeeper Lovre Kalinic, according to a Sportske Novotski report.

It was previously reported by HLN that Koeman had been identified as a potential summer signing if a move for Jordan Pickford didn’t materialise.

Sportske Novotski now claim the Toffees have made the 27-year-old their top transfer target, as manager Ronald Koeman looks to upgrade on Joel Robles and Martin Stekelenburg who both endured a disappointing campaign.

However, it is said manager Hein Vanhaezebrouckare is keen to hold onto his number one as he sees him as “one of the pillars” of his side.

This comes after the Mirror reported Everton have made a £10million bid for Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford, while the Daily Mail claimed the Merseysiders were interested in Man City goalkeeper Joe Hart.

Kalinic was a mainstay between the sticks for the Belgian giants this term, making 23 appearances in all competitions, keeping nine clean sheets.

He joined Gent in January from Croatian outfit Hajduk Split for £2.5million, and is under contract at the club until the summer of 2021.

The 27-year-old has been capped by Croatia eight times, most recently featuring in the side’s 2-1 friendly win over Mexico in May of this year.

Everton finished seventh in this season’s Premier League and Koeman has identified the goalkeeping position as one area where they can improve ahead of next term.
