Everton are close to signing QPR teenage forward Josh Bowler, according to a reliable journalist.

Sky Sports correspondent Kaveh Solkehol took to Twitter on Monday to deliver an update on a potential transfer that has been speculated about over the last month.

Solkehol reported on his personal Twitter account that Everton and Championship outfit QPR are on the verge of agreeing the terms of a deal that will take Bowler, 18, to Goodison Park.

This comes after reports that the Merseysiders had tabled a number of bids for the youngster, with Get West London claiming that over £3million had been offered for a player with 21 minutes of first-team football under his belt.

The sustained interest show how keen Everton are to sign the wide forward, who made his QPR debut  as a substitute in their 4-0 defeat to Norwich in the final weekend of the 2016-17 Championship season.

Bowler signed professional terms with QPR in February in a deal that runs until the summer of 2018.

Everton have showed in the last two transfer windows since Ronald Koeman took over as manager that they are prepared to spend big on youngsters who they regard as having immense potential.

Young forwards Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Ademola Lookman arrived from Sheffield United and Charlton respectively and have been given many first-team opportunities.

Koeman has also installed academy product Tom Davies, 18, as a first-team regular.
