Everton manager Ronald Koeman is monitoring the progress of Huddersfield youngster Rekeil Pyke, according to the Sun.

The newspaper report that the Toffees chief has been keeping a keen eye on the development of the teenage attacker over the “last few months” ahead of a potential summer move.

Pyke, 19, spent the second-half of last season on loan at League Two outfit Colchester United, where he made failed to hit the back of the net from any of his 12 appearances.

However, he impressed with his stint, with United’s manager John McGreal called Pyke “a beast of a kid” because of the speed with which he adapted to the rigours of lower league football.

However, with Huddersfield set to play in the Premier League next season, it remains to be seen if the youngster will return to the John Smith’s Stadium with a key role to play in the first-team squad.

Pyke also spent a short time on loan at Wrexham last season, where he made three appearances in the National League.

The academy product has yet to make his competitive senior debut for the club, but appeared in the first-team during pre-season last year and could do so again this summer.

Premier League rivals Watford are also understood to be showing an interest in Pyke, however the race for his signature could be limited to just two sides with Everton currently their only competition.

It is not yet clear though, if Everton are prepared to test Huddersfield’s resolve by stepping up their interest with a formal offer.
