Everton favourites to sign King

Everton have leapfrogged Tottenham to be installed as the favourites to sign Bournemouth attacker Josh King this summer, according to the latest bookmaker odds.

SkyBet have priced the cash-rich Merseysiders at 5/1 to prise the 25-year-old away from the Vitality Stadium after a campaign in which he scored 16 Premier League goals in 36 appearances.

Tottenham (13/2) are second favourites to acquire the former Manchester United youngster while West Ham (9/1) are also among the forerunners, a long way ahead of the more distantly pried West Brom (20/1), Stoke and Southampton (both 25/1).

The change in the betting comes after Everton and Tottenham were joint favourites in the betting at the end of last month to sign the 28-times Norway international before the transfer window shuts on 3 September.

King had a lopsided season on the south coast, as he scored just three times before the start of 2017 and then went on a rampage in the new year to add a further 13 goals in 16 appearances in the second half of the campaign.

The striker has been completely transformed on the south coast after scoring just eight goals in 72 appearances for previous club Blackburn Rovers, where he spent almost three years of his career.

Ronald Koeman has already added Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen to his squad this summer in deals worth a combined £54million and has been strongly linked with a number of leading strikers as the future of Romelu Lukaku is in considerable doubt.
