Premier League champions Chelsea could be set to miss out on the signing of Juventus star Alex Sandro this summer, according to the Sun.

The newspaper claim that the 26-year-old full-back is set to reject a move to Stamford Bridge and will instead commit his long-term future to the Serie A giants.

Chelsea have been hot on the heels of the £62million-rated Brazil international with the transfer window set to open on July 1, after Antonio Conte made him one of his top summer targets.

However, the Italian manager could be left frustrated as it is understood that Sandro is set to make an emphatic decision on his long-term future by turning his back on the interest from Chelsea.

Juventus have been determined to fight off interest from the Blues and club chiefs have already met to discuss a fresh agreement to strengthen the attraction of an extended stay in Turin.

Sandro is now set to be handed a new contract worth a staggering £93,000-per-week, which would make him the third-highest paid player at the club behind Pablo Dybala and Gonzalo Higuain.

Juventus are also looking to strike a deal to bring Real Madrid defender Danilo, who is a good friend of Sandro, to the club this summer, a deal that could also work against Chelsea.

The new contract offer will provide a bitter blow to their transfer ambitions, but Chelsea and Conte have not yet conceded defeat in their bid to sign the star defender.

However, Conte could struggle to convince mega-rich owner Roman Abramovich to sanction such a lucrative move, which would make smash the current transfer record for a defender.

A potential deal would still fall well short of Paul Pogba’s world-record £89.3million move to Manchester United, but it would trump the £50million spent by PSG to sign David Luiz in 2014.

Alex Sandro made 43 appearances in all competitions for Juventus last season, contributing three goals and seven assists.
