Contract negotiations between Chelsea and Thibaut Courtois have come to a resounding halt, according to a Daily Mail report.

The newspaper claims the 25-year-old goalkeeper is under contract until 2019 and his current deal earns him around £90,000-a-week.

However, it is said he wants to at least double his wages in a new deal that would match Eden Hazard’s £200,000-a-week salary.

The report states the Blues are looking to reach an agreement with the Belgian shot-stopper before pre-season training starts in mid-July.

Courtois has been linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the past, but now they seem more likely to sign AC Milan starlet Gianluigi Donnarumma or Manchester United’s David De Gea.

The Mail claims if the 25-year-old fails to sign a new deal this summer, Madrid may reignite their interest in him if their pursuits of Donnarumma and De Gea fall flat.

The Belgian was a mainstay between the sticks for the Blues last term, making 39 appearances across all competitions.

He arrived at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2011 from Genk in a £7.6million switch, but he was immediately loaned out to Atletico Madrid for three seasons.

Since his return to Chelsea in July 2014 he has made the goalkeeper position his own, and he has played 108 league and cup games.

Courtois has been capped by Belgium on 49 occasions.
