Chelsea have agreed a fee to sell central defender Nathan Ake to fellow Premier League side Bournemouth this summer, according to the Guardian.

The newspaper claims that Bournemouth will pay a club-record £20million to land the 22-year-old and Ake is expected to put pen to paper on a five-year contract with the Cherries within the next 48 hours.

It is said that the deal is agreed in principle and there are just minor details left to resolve.

The report claims that Newcastle United, West Ham United, Southampton and West Bromwich were all interested in landing the defender this summer but Bournemouth won the race.

The Guardian reports that Ake is set to meet up with his new teammates for the beginning of pre-season training as the Cherries prepare to feature in five matches next month.

It is understood that Chelsea had no intention of selling Ake but the player made it clear to the club that he wanted to play first-team football on a regular basis next season and the Blues were unable to guarantee his wish.

The Englishman spent the majority of last season on loan with Bournemouth where he became an essential part of the starting lineup, contributing with three goals in 12 matches in all competitions.

Ake endeared himself to the Bournemouth supporters after scoring the winning goal in a dramatic 4-3 victory against Liverpool at Vitality Stadium in December.
