Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to express mixed opinions on Alexandre Lacazette after the club reportedly tabled a £44 million bid for the Lyon striker.
French media outlet RMC Sport recently revealed that discussions are ongoing between the two clubs and that Arsene Wenger’s mega-money offer for the 26-year-old meets the expectations of Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas.
Lacazette displayed an impressive performance for Lyon throughout the 2016/17 season and was named Ligue One’s second highest goalscorer after he netted 28 goals in just 30 appearances during the competition.
However, Gunners fans have given mixed responses on social media with many supporters excited at the prospect of the Frenchman moving to the Emirates, while others have said “stop acting like he’s world class”.

I'd be very happy with Lacazette, he reminds of Wrighty big time, it's got to be the first piece in the jigsaw though, not the only piece!

People turning their noses up at Lacazette. This time last year Jamie Vardy made us waste a month waiting on him. RVP has been gone 5 years.

I don't understand the grief Lacazette is getting. But if he comes, at whatever price, he will be the best finisher at Arsenal bar Alexis.

Would we be this underwhelmed by Lacazette if we weren't tempted by Mbappe dreams first. Definitely. He would still be a good signing.

The RMC Sport report says that a source close to Arsenal has claimed that the Lacazette deal should be finished early next week.
Many of the Arsenal fans who weren’t very enthused by the potential deal have said they would be more excited if the club hadn’t been linked with Monaco’s teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe.
The Mirror recently identified the 18-year-old as one of Arsene Wenger’s main transfer targets this summer, after the striker scored 26 goals and provided 14 assists during his 44 appearances across all competitions last season.
