Manchester United are on the verge of securing a deal for striker Alvaro Morata after Real Madrid president Florentino Perez approved the transfer, according to Don Balon.

The Spanish sports magazine report on their website that Perez is desperate to allocate the finances to a move for Monaco’s Kylian Mbappe and has agreed to sell to United for a fee of £62million (€70million).

The huge development comes just a day after Spanish newspaper Diario AS claimed that United and Morata had agreed personal terms, and that the two clubs just needed to agree a transfer fee for the move to go through.

They claim that the Spanish side were looking to secure a deal of between £70million and £79million, but it appears that club president Perez has settled for United’s latest offer.

Meanwhile the Sun have claimed that the 24-year-old striker will earn £350,000-a-week during his time at Old Trafford, with Morata set to put pen to paper on a five-year deal with the English giants.

With 21 caps and nine goals for Spain, Morata has established himself as one of the top young strikers in world football.

He made 43 appearances across all competitions for Real Madrid last season, scoring 20 goals as well as adding six assists to his tally during his first season back at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Morata had spent six years working his way through the youth system and into the first team squad, before departing for Italian heavyweights Juventus in 2014.

Real Madrid spent £25million to secure their former man last summer, but the player has made clear he is looking to exit the club once again after not being guaranteed a starting spot in Zinedine Zidane’s side, with Perez set to make a healthy profit from his sale.
