The ground was sold on a lease deal back in 2004 after the club was relegated from the Premier League and was struggling to reduce debts.
The fans took to Twitter to declare their happiness at the decision, with some supporters even saying that the acquisition of Elland Road was their happiest day “for a long long time”.

Owner Andrea Radrizzani was thanked by fans for bringing Elland Road back to the club, and the chief made a statement on the club’s official website saying: “Today is an important day in our history and a proud day for me and my team.
“When I met with management and supporters during my first few months here the purchase of Elland Road was very high on their list of priorities.”
The new deal will allow the club to reduce their expenditure which means that bosses are able to invest more money into United’s academy and first team in addition to other improvements to the ground.
The Yorkshire club confirmed on their website that improvement work to update the stadium had already begun and is due to be completed before the beginning of the 2017/18 season.
