Jack Grealish caught the eye of the Aston Villa fans when he produced a Man of the Match display for his side during their FA Cup semi-final win against Liverpool in 2015.

Since then, Grealish and his boyhood club have suffered relegation to the second tier, finishing outside of the top ten in the Championship during the recently concluded campaign.

The 21-year-old has promised so much in a Villa shirt yet certain sections of the Holte End would be disappointed with what he has delivered.

Grealish needs to prove his worth next season and be that player Steve Bruce needs to earn promotion from the Championship to the Premier League.

If Villa are to make a return to the top tier of English football then they will need a player that can score the goals and provide the assists from the middle of the park.

Throughout the previous campaign, Grealish either played out wide or through the middle for his respective managers Roberto Di Matteo and Bruce.

For next term, Bruce needs to play Grealish in a more consistent position because that will enable him to find the back of the net a lot more and link up with the attackers.

There is no doubt that one of Jonathan Kodjia or Scott Hogan will fire next season but the two strikers need someone producing the goods from out wide or through the middle.

Grealish’s ability to carry the ball, control the match and score from outside of the area can help Villa earn those valuable points.
