Exeter manager Paul Tisdale is the most likely person to join Leeds United in the summer transfer window, according to a report.

Sky Sports’ transfer section regularly plugs its Football Whispers, which claimed on Thursday afternoon that the long-standing manager of the League Two play-off finalists is more likely than any player to head to Elland Road in the coming weeks.

Leeds are searching for a new manager after Garry Monk handed in his resignation two weeks ago after transforming the fortunes of the team during his single season at the helm.

New sole owner Andrea Radrizzani revealed on Twitter on Tuesday night that the Championship club are due to begin interviewing candidates this week although there is no sense at this stage of a nailed-on contender.

The club have distanced themselves from interest in early bookmakers’ favourite Aitor Karanka, while Claudio Ranieri’s agent insisted on Wednesday there was “no truth” in rumours his client could replace Monk.

Football Whispers, which gathers all transfer rumours across the globe and calculates the likelihood of them happening, rates it 2.0 out of 5 that Tisdale will join Leeds, with five the highest possible ranking and meaning it is a certainty.

The 44-year-old is ahead in the ratings of Ranieri, who has a rating of 1.7, and Rangers winger Barrie McKay, who is rated at 1.5 to transfer to Elland Road this summer.

Tisdale has been in charge of Exeter since 2006 and is the second longest serving manager in the Football League behind only Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger.
