Garry Monk posted his first Twitter message since explaining his Leeds United exit a fortnight ago – and fans of the club reacted with almost universal anger.
The former Leeds manager took to his personal Twitter account on Thursday evening to hail the England Under-20s team for reaching their age group World Cup final.
Monk hailed the “brilliant stuff” from the young guns and predicted a “bright future for these players” in an upbeat message.

Leeds took a club slant to Monk’s national team message and preferred to remind the 38-year-old of what he had left behind when he handed in his resignation at Elland Road a fortnight ago.
Most of them were laced with anger and some even labelled him a snake for walking out on the Yorkshire giants.
This is Futbol has rounded up their best Tweets:

Other Leeds fans condemned the critics for failing to recognise there are two sides to the story of Monk’s exit.
The former Swansea manager had the chance to stay another year at Elland Road as new owner Andrea Radrizzani was keen to activate an option to extend his contract until the summer of 2018.
Monk subsequently said the two parties could not reach an agreement and it was reported that he doubted Radrizzani wanted to keep him in then long term, which was what the younger man wanted.
Leeds are set to begin interviewing candidates this week as they step up their search to find a replacement for Monk.
