Leeds United Under 23 head coach Jason Blunt will leave the club this summer, it has been confirmed.

The Championship club confirmed on their official club website on Wednesday morning that the 39-year-old will step down from his post at Elland Road at the end of July.

Blunt has been part of the managerial setup in Yorkshire for the past seven years, but moves on to a fresh challenge after accepting a new academy job role based in Cornwall.

The Leeds favourite also began his professional playing career at the club, where he made four senior appearances between 1995 and 1998, before later returning in a coaching capacity.

Blunt’s Under 23 side finished bottom of the Professional Development League North Division last season, with just six wins from their 28 matches.

However, Blunt’s imminent departure is the latest of a number of managerial changes that have been enforced ahead of the new season, with several other key figures also leaving their posts.

Adam Underwood and new director of football Victor Orta will lead the search for a replacement for Blunt, but a new manager will also be on the agenda following Garry Monk’s shock departure at the end of last month.

Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani will also have a major influence on the managerial hunt, having completed his own full takeover of the club just two days’ prior to Monk’s resignation.

Meanwhile, Angus Kinnear has joined the club as their new chief executive, replacing the outgoing Ben Mansford, who stepped down from his role in May.

First-team coach James Beattie could be the next departure from the Leeds backroom staff, after Radio Yorkshire host Derek Clark claimed on Twitter that the ex-striker was set to join Middlesbrough alongside Monk.

Nevertheless, the mass exodus means Leeds look set to begin the 2017-18 Championship campaign with a completely new backroom team.
