Jordan Lyden has revealed that Micah Richards and Gabby Agbonlahor are “always at each other” in the Aston Villa dressing room.

The Australian midfielder, who has come through the ranks at Villa Park, stated that Richards is the funniest player amongst the current crop at the club.

Centre-back Richards joined the Midlands outfit last summer on a free transfer when then Villa boss Tim Sherwood snapped him up after his contract with Manchester City had expired.

However, Richards endured a difficult debut campaign at Villa, playing a big part in the club’s relegation to the second tier of English football in nearly three decades.

Nonetheless, when talking about the more light-hearted moments behind the scenes, Lyden revealed that Richards tops the list from those at the club.

“Micah [is the funniest in the dressing room], he has got some good banter to be fair,” Lyden told the club’s official Twitter account. “Him and Gabby are always at each other.”

Following Villa’s relegation last season, Richards only played three matches in all competitions for Roberto Di Matteo and Steve Bruce, respectively.

Added to that, striker Agbonlahor was frozen out by Di Matteo out the start of the season before being brought back into the first-team picture by Bruce, who replaced the Italian in the dugout in October.

Agbonlahor made a surprise return to the team during his side’s 1-1 draw against bitter rivals Birmingham City in late October.

He then ended his 14-month goal drought by scoring the winning goal against the Blues during the reverse fixture in April.
