Celtic have handed youngster Mark Hill a new deal with the club, it was announced on Friday.

The Scottish champions confirmed on their official website that the 18-year-old midfielder has agreed a new three-year deal with the club after settling terms

The midfielder has impressed for the Boys academy this season and been an integral member of the Development Squad, while also featuring in the side that beat Rangers in the Youth cup.

He is a highly rated teenager at the Celtic academy and will now hope to kick on towards the first team.

Brendan Rodgers has shown a real willingness to promote youth during his first season with the club and given youngsters a chance to showcase their talents in the senior set-up.

The ex-Liverpool boss has urged Hill to now make the step up following the reward of a new contract.

“I am delighted for Mark and his family, and now the hard work begins for him in making the next step from the Development Side to the first team” Rodgers said.

Hill is now under contract with Celtic until June 2020 and will surely have his eyes set on a first team chance in the near future.

He will face a tough task if he is to force his way into contention for next season as the likes of Scott Brown, Callum McGregor, Stuart Armstrong, Kouassi Eboue and Nir Bitton have competed for a spot this year.
