Wolves are close to securing their first transfer of the summer window in centre-back Roderick Miranda, according to the Express and Star.

The local news outlet details that the 26-year-old centre-back could become one of the first signings of the Nuno Espirito Santo era at the club following the departure of manager Paul Lambert on Tuesday.

The former Porto and Valencia boss has been heavily linked to taking charge of the Championship side and he will bring with him his knowledge of Portuguese football.

Miranda was also brought to Portuguese club Rio Ave by Nuno in the summer of 2013 and the defender has remained at the top-flight side since.

Both are said to be clients of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who is also known to have a say in the transfer dealings at Wolves and that is said to have been one of the reasons for Lambert’s fallout at the club after securing their Championship survival last season.

Owners Fosun will also be hoping for better dealings this time around than the ones brought to the club under Walter Zenga last year with pre-season optimism soon vanquished as many new signings struggled to adapt to the English game.

Now, Miranda is currently unknown in England, but he did play 33 times in the Portuguese top-flight last season and has previously played 15 times for European giants Benfica, meaning like Nuno he boasts a highly impressive CV.
