Rangers manager Pedro Caixinha is eyeing a swoop for Moreirense defender Pedro Rebocho, according to an A Bola report.
The Portuguese newspaper claims Caixinha is interested in signing the 22-year-old from the Portugese top-flight club this summer as he looks to bolster his defensive options ahead of next season.
It is Rangers’ second swoop for a Portugese as they also close in on the signing of Cagliari centre-back Bruno Alves, 35.
Left-back Rebocho joined Moreirense in the summer of 2016 on a free transfer upon leaving Benfica B and he has since gone on to become a mainstay of the club’s back line.
He has played 34 league and cup games for the side this campaign, providing six assists.
Prior to making the move, the 22-year-old did make 60 appearances in all competitions for Benfica B in his two season spell at the club, although he failed to break into the first team set-up.
Rebocho has been capped by all of Portugal’s age group side’s, from the Under-16s right up to the Under-21s.
He has made four appearances for Rui Jorge’s Under-21s, most recently playing 30 minutes of a 3-1 friendly win over Norway in March of this year.
Caixinha is looking to strengthen all areas of his squad this summer after a disappointing campaign saw his side finish third in the Scottish Premiership, nine points behind second-placed Aberdeen and 39 points behind champions Celtic.
No new signings have been confirmed as of yet, but a Glasgow Evening Times report claims Alves could have completed a move to Ibrox “by the end of the week”.
