Sam Allardyce has reportedly quit Crystal Palace – and Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to give their reaction.
The Daily Mail claimed on Tuesday that the former Magpies boss has told Palace chairman Steve Parish that he is going to leave Selhurst Park.
The 62-year-old enduredĀ a turbulant few months at St. James’ Park duringĀ the 2007/08 season which ended with him being sacked in January after a poor run of results.
He also had a spell at Newcastle’s bitter rivals Sunderland, who are now without a manager following the resignation of David Moyes on Monday.
Some Magpies fans want to see Allardyce return to the Stadium of Light, who have been relegated from the Premier League, after disgracing himself while in charge of the England international team last year.
Here is a selection of tweets from the Toon Army:

Allardyce has done all he can do; kept them up (if even). Curious how he always turns up mid season, makes a slight impact, and leaves.

Allardyce’s management career has seen him take charge of many clubs including Bolton, West Ham, Blackburn and Sunderland and has made a habit of helping teams avoid relegation.
He guided Palace to Premier League safety this term as they beat Hull 4-0 at Selhurst Park in the penultimate weekend of the season.
However the Mail’s report claims that he wanted assurances about certain things in south London, which could have been the reason as to why he was willing to leave.
