Leeds are set to announce the arrival of Victor Orta was their new technical director within the next few days, according to a reliable journalist.

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Lee Sobot revealed on his personal Twitter account on Monday that he was ‘expecting’ the arrival of the former Middlesbrough chief to be confirmed ‘at some stage mid-week’.

Orta quit his role as part of the backroom team at the relegated Premier League club a week ago, where he served as Middlesbrough’s recruitment chief.

But the Spaniard could be set to land on his feet after Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani placed Orta on his shortlist to fill the vacant technical director position at Elland Road.

The imminent arrival, which is said by Sobot to be confirmed within days, comes as the latest part of Radrizzani’s overhaul of the management structure at Leeds United.

Orta’s appointment could comes less than a week after Angus Kinnear was named as the club’s new managing director, replacing Ben Mansford, who quit as chief executive a week earlier.

Leeds are also on the hunt for a new manager, following Garry Monk’s shock departure last week, with Orta’s former Middlesbrough colleague Aitor Karanka one of the favourites to replace him.

Radrizzani, meanwhile, only completed his full takeover of the club at the start of last week, but has wasted precious little time in tampering with the management setup behind the scenes.

Orta has also held roles at La Liga giants Sevilla and Russian Premier League outfit Zenit St Petersburg.
