Kelechi Iheanacho has said he is happy to stay at Manchester City and will kick off the season with the club despite reports claiming Everton are set to launch a £20million bid for him.

The Toffees have been heavily linked to the 20-year-old since the end of the season and earlier in the month the Sun reported that Ronald Koeman was preparing an offer as he viewed the young Nigerian as a possible replacement for the much sought after Romelu Lukaku.

The bright prospect has struggled to break into Pep Guardiola’s City team since the January addition of Gabriel Jesus with Sergio Aguero also ahead of him.

However, Iheanacho has now told that he has no plans to leave Manchester this summer and that he does not know of any interest from elsewhere.

“I’m not very aware of that,” told Iheanacho, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News in regards to the speculation.

“I just keep working with the team and I’m still at Manchester City so I’ll meet up with the boys and kick off the season with Manchester City.

“I’m happy to stay at Manchester City and keep fighting to help them achieve what they want to achieve.”

Iheanacho was once considered the brightest prospect at Manchester City after breaking into the first team in the 2015-16 campaign where he scored a stunning 14 goals in 35 matches in all competitions.

However, since Guardiola’s appointment last summer the eight-time capped Nigeria international has returned just seven goals in 29 appearances in all competitions.

Everton meanwhile could still be on the lookout for a further striker signing regardless of whether Lukaku leaves or not with the Belgian the only recognised senior striker at the club with both Arouna Kone and Enner Valencia exiting this summer.
