Celtic are interested in signing Liverpool youngster Harry Wilson, according to ESPN FC.

The report details that the Bhoys are targeting the 20-year-old attacker and will face competition from Championship club Wolves for his signature.

It is understood that Brendan Rodgers wants to improve their options ahead of next season as Patrick Roberts’ loan spell expires and is well aware of Wilson’s talents.

The Merseyside club are reluctant to sell the emerging star, but are braced for huge interest in the summer window.

Wilson is the captain of Liverpool’s Under-23s side and is a great goalscoring threat from the wide areas, scoring 28 goals from the wing this season.

The Wales international is on the cusp of the first team set-up and is involved in their post-season tour in Australia.

However, he has made just one senior appearance so far and that came this season in an FA Cup third-round tie against Plymouth.

Wilson is a highly rated player at Anfield and many feel he has the potential to become a senior player in the future, but faces a tough battle to force his way into Jurgen Klopp’s competitive squad.

Meanwhile, Celtic will be gunning for a seventh consecutive league title next year after cursing to the crown this season.

The Scottish champions went unbeaten throughout the entire campaign and could end the year undefeated in domestic competitions if they beat Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup final on Saturday.

Rodgers does have several talented options in attack such as Scott Sinclair, Stuart Armstrong and James Forrest, but Wilson would be able to fill the void left by Roberts as he returns to parent club Manchester City.
