Celtic legend Henrik Larsson admits it was a ‘great’ feeling to back at his beloved former home on Sunday.

The 45-year-old made his return to the Scottish club for a special Celtic FC Foundation match, an encounter that pit together a host of Celtic legends, including former team-mate Lubomir Moravcik.

Larsson’s side ran out 5-2 winners during Sunday’s charity match, with the former Sweden international goalscorer rolling back the years with a first-half hat-trick.

He netted 242 goals from 315 competitive appearances for Celtic during his playing days, and admitted it was ‘great’ to be back at a place that ‘holds a special place’ in his heart.

He told the club’s official website: “It’s always nice to be back here. Celtic has a special place in my heart. We had some great times here and to go back out there today was fantastic.

“It was great to be back. It feels like home and I really enjoyed it. I haven’t seen some of the lads for many years, so it was great fun to be here, and all the jokes are pretty much the same.”

Larsson’s charity adventure comes just 24 hours after Celtic completed their domestic treble haul with victory over Aberdeen in the Scottish Cup Final.

It was only the first time that Celtic have achieved the feat since the 2000-01 season, highlighting the fine work that was done last season under manager Brendan Rodgers.

The Celtic chief also masterminded their unbeaten record across all domestic competitions, suffering defeats only in the Champions League during the first-half of the season.

The Celtic charity game also featured ex-players such as Stiliyan Petrov, Neil Lennon and Artur Boruc, as well as current Celtic stars Scott Brown and Kris Commons.
