Chris Sutton believes that Tottenham ace Harry Kane is an upgrade on Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema.

The 23-year-old has been in great form for Spurs this season and wrapped up his second consecutive golden boot in the Premier League on the final day of the season.

He netted a superb 35 goals in 38 appearances across all competitions and has become one of the top strikers in the top flight during recent years.

Sutton has paid a huge compliment to the England international by stating that he is better than Benzema.

The 29-year-old is preparing for a Champions League final against Juventus and is fresh off the back of helping his side win the La Liga title.

“Kane’s outstanding form will not have escaped Europe’s elite. For Real Madrid, you would have to say Kane is an upgrade on Karim Benzema,” Sutton wrote in the Mail. “Should Real come calling, it would be a big decision for the player and Tottenham.”

Kane is looking to become one of the top forwards in world football and his strike record this season suggests that he is well on the way.

He has thrived under the guidance of Mauricio Pochettino and is now looking to add some silverware to his locker to prove his qualities, with Spurs finishing as runners-up in the league this year.

Meanwhile, Benzema is a serial winner and has been one of the most consistent goalscorers in Europe during the past decade.

The Frenchman has 181 goals so far during his time at the Bernabeu and is a key man alongside the likes of Cristiano Ronald, Gareth Bale and Toni Kroos.

However, he has 19 goals in 47 appearances across all competitions this season and Sutton suggests Kane has now surpassed him.
