Willie Miller has questioned the future of Rangers and urged Aberdeen midfielder Ryan Jack to move to England rather than Ibrox.
Former Dons defender Miller believes Rangers-bound Jack has more chance of winning trophies at Pittodrie than at the Glasgow club.
The Daily Record report how Jack has told his manager Derek McIness that he will be leaving Pittodrie at the end of his contract in June.
It is said that he will join Pedro Caixinha’s side at Ibrox after the Scottish Cup final encounter against Celtic this Saturday.
Jack has been a key figure for McIness’ side this season, helping them secure a second-placed finish ahead of the Gers.
Miller believes evidence from recent seasons suggests that Rangers have a far less chance of winning trophies than Aberdeen.
He provided a damning verdict of Caixinha’s team and even urged midfielder Jack to pick a move to England rather than the blue half of Glasgow.
“It’s a shame he is going but you have to respect his right to do that. But Ryan shouldn’t jump in,” said Miller, as quoted by the Daily Record.
“I had the chance to join Rangers in 1983 and would have got far more money but I stayed with the Dons as I felt they offered me the best chance of winning trophies.
“On the evidence of recent season, you would have to say the same applies today.
“I have no doubt that Aberdeen will continue to challenge for honours under Derek McInnes but could Ryan be sure of doing that if he goes to Ibrox?
“But I would still rather Ryan ended up in England than at Rangers.”
It has been a season to forget for the Bears, who finished third in the Scottish Premiership following their promotion last summer.
Mark Warburton, who guided them to the top tier, resigned from his post in February as he was replaced by Caixinha in the Ibrox dugout.
Since Caixinha’s arrival, he saw Rangers suffer two defeats against their Old Firm rivals Celtic, who went on to clinch the title in record fashion.
Brendan Rodgers side finished 39 points ahead of their neighbours as they inflicted five defeats out of a possible six on their rivals this term.
Over the course of the season, Jack has played 26 Premiership matches, scoring two goals as he missed nearly two months of action because of a knee operation.
