Celtic are the favourites to sign Hibernian’s midfielder John McGinn, according to the latest bookmakers’ odds.

Bet Victor have priced the Hoops at 2/1 to sign the 22-year-old, while close rivals Rangers are also in the running as they trail at a price of 5/1.

Fellow Premiership club Aberdeen follow behind the Glasgow duo with odds of 8/1, while Derby, Newcastle, Hearts, Norwich, Aston Villa and Brighton all share odds of 12/1 respectively.

The Express claimed earlier in the month that Celtic were considering a £1.5million summer move for McGinn with manager Brendan Rodgers said to rate him highly.

The young central midfielder has impressed for Neil Lennon’s title winning side with five goals and 10 assists from 37 appearances in all competitions.

He has also been capped three times by Scotland for the senior national team at his young age and the next step for his career could be a move to one of the Glasgow clubs.

Celtic have a strong midfield containing the likes of Scott Brown, Stuart Armstrong and Callum McGregor, but Rodgers may view McGinn as one for the future.

Meanwhile, the midfield depth in the Rangers team has been vastly weakened following the return of Jon Toral and Emerson Hyndman to their parent clubs and Pedro Caixinha will surely be on the lookout for a new central midfielder this summer.
