McCann believes Rogic has the ability to play in England

Former Scotland international and Sky Sports pundit Neil McCann believes that Celtic attacker Tom Rogic has what it takes to play for the “top teams” in England.

The 24-year-old attacking midfielder started from the bench in Saturday’s Scottish Cup final clash at Aberdeen before coming on after just 27 minutes following an injury to young star Kieran Tierney.

He went on to play a vital role in the Hoops’ 2-1 win and bagged the winning strike in stoppage time to provide Celtic with their third trophy of a very successful campaign.

Brendan Rodgers’ team has been hailed for it’s talent this season and a number of the club’s stars have been linked with moves to Chelsea, including Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele, while fellow attacker Scott Sinclair has been named the club’s Player of the Year.

However, it was Rogic who McCann singled out for special praise after the game and the ex-Southampton attacker told that he believed the  Australian could play for one of the Premier League’s big clubs.

“I think Tom is a fantastic player,” started McCann speaking on Sky Sports 1 on Saturday afternoon during their post-match coverage of Celtic’s win against Aberdeen.

“I think Tom could play in the top teams down south, I really do. I’m not trying to get him away from Celtic in case the Celtic fans start battering their computers, I’m just saying that’s how good I think he is.”

Rogic has been at Celtic for four years now after transferring from Central Coast Mariners in January 2013.

He has played in 90 matches in total for the Hoops, scoring 21 goals, while providing 14 and this season he has played in 37 games in all competitions, scoring 12, while providing six.

The Australia international is also contracted to the club until 2019 and the Celtic fans will be hoping he remains at the club further than two years.
