West Ham are keen to snap up a second 30-plus player released by Manchester City, according to the Telegraph.

The newspaper report that the Londoners are among a queue of clubs keen to sign Gael Clichy in the forthcoming transfer window.

The Telegraph report that the Hammers “have already shown an interest in Clichy”, while he is also being tracked by newly-promoted Newcastle United, Paris Saint-Germain and Fenerbahce.

City announced on their official media channels on Thursday that the left-back, 31, has been released at the end of his contract, which expires next month.

He is the second available City player who West Ham are reportedly keen on signing, with the club strongly linked with his fellow full-back Pablo Zabaleta.

Sky Sports reported on their website that the Hammers are close to completing a deal to sign Zabaleta, 32, on a two-year contract.

Clichy has been released even though he has been a regular in Pep Guardiola’s team this season, racking up 39 appearances in all competitions spread across 3,178 minutes of actions.

The 18-times France international, who joined from Arsenal in 2011, has enjoyed considerable success in Manchester, collecting two Premier League winning medals and two League Cups. He also won the league at Arsenal in 2003-04.

Confirming his departure from City, Clichy said: “I won’t be here next season.”
