Yaya Toure is set to be offered a 12 month deal to stay on at Manchester City.

According to a report in The Sun the 33-year-old has convinced Pep Guardiola that he can still cut it next season after initially being frozen out of the team this season.

Toure had to wait until mid November for his first Premier League appearance but marked his return with both goals in the 2-1 win away to Crystal Palace.

Guardiola is preparing for major changes this summer as he clears out many of the players that he inherited to put his own stamp on the team.

Toure has had offers from China and elsewhere to consider but is believed to be interested in staying on at the Etihad for another crack at the Champions League.

With half a dozen or more new players coming in the former Barcelona midfielder will be able to provide a line of continuity as a new era opens up at City.
