Tottenham have received a massive boost in their pursuit of Ross Barkley after he failed to commit to Everton on Monday, according to the Mirror

The newspaper claimed that the 23-year-old dropped the biggest clue yet that he will not sign a new contract at Goodison Park after failing to meet the club’s deadline.

It is said both Tottenham and Manchester United are currently monitoring the situation as they could be persuaded to bid £20million for the Toffees sensation.

Barkley has one-year left on his current Goodison Park deal, with his manager Ronald Koeman telling him earlier this month to accept and sign a new contract or he will be sold.

It is said that Barkley has been offered £100,000-a-week by the club, which is the biggest deal in the club’s history.

The England international came off from the bench for his side’s 3-1 defeat at Arsenal on the last day of the season.

He has been a regular member of Koeman’s side this term, playing 36 Premier League matches, scoring five goals and supplying nine assists.

If Barkley were to move to Spurs then he would join a side that recently recorded their best ever Premier League finish.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side accumulated 86 points from their 38 matches as they secured the runners-up spot as well as Champions League football for a second season running.
