Mauricio Pochettino must reshuffle his Tottenham attacking options by offloading Vincent Janssen and joining the reported race for Javier Hernandez.

RMC Sport claim Hernandez, nicknamed “Chicharito”, is allowed to leave current side Bayer Leverkusen this summer, with French giants Lyon said to be interested in meeting his £10.5million asking price.

Janssen has failed to impress since his £17million move to Spurs last summer, scoring just six goals in 38 league and cup encounters for the north London giants.

The Holland international has failed to adapt to the rigours and the pace of the Premier League, looking bereft of confidence, a first touch and any kind of positional awareness in the opposition box.

Now, the former AZ Alkmaar star must be offloaded and replaced in the summer to give Harry Kane serious competition up front, with Spurs set to compete on four fronts next season.

Bringing in 90-time Mexico international Chicharito, in what is a bargain price for his natural goalscoring prowess at just over £10million, would provide Spurs with a player that will score 15 goals as a back-up striker.

His unerring ability to find the back of the net within an opponent’s penalty area is second to none, and the former Manchester United ace showed just that during his time in the Premier League.

A nuisance for opposition defences, Hernandez scored 37 Premier League goals in 103 top-flight matches despite only starting 49 of those after being brought to England by Sir Alex Ferguson.

If Pochettino can secure a deal for the pocket-sized attacker, Spurs would stand a much better chance of going from Premier League runners-up to taking the league by storm.
