Glenn Hoddle has claimed Tottenham would become a European superpower if they signed Kylian Mbappe and Isco this summer.

The former Spurs manager insisted in the Mail that the club need to be “brave” in the transfer market in the forthcoming window and push for elite talent to take them to the next level.

Hoddle urged manager Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino to make big moves for Monaco striker Mbappe and Real Madrid playmaker Isco to make an already strong squad even better.

Hoddle wrote in the Mail: “Tottenham need to make brave signings in the summer: target the best players and push on. Put bluntly, Tottenham aren’t just a top-four club. They have the opportunity to become a superpower in the Premier League and in Europe.

“If Real Madrid, Barcelona and Manchester City have their eyes on Kylian Mbappe, Monaco’s teenage sensation, then so should Tottenham. What a statement that would make if they could sign him.

“Why not? He’s on the cusp of a great career and at Tottenham he would get to play for a great manager with a proven record of playing and improving young players. He’d play every week, which he can’t be sure of at Barcelona or Real Madrid.

“I’d look at Isco from Real Madrid as well. He might be at the biggest club in the world but he can’t be happy as the best player in their B team. Both players would fit perfectly into Tottenham’s system.”

Mbappe, 18, was not able to continue his stunning run of goalscoring on Wednesday night as Monaco lost 2-0 to Juventus in their Champions League semi-final first leg in France.

But he has made Europe’s biggest clubs sit up and take notice with his thrilling displays, which have yielded 24 goals and 11 assists from just 39 matches this season.

Isco, 25, has been a key squad man for Real in their impressive campaign but has been frequently omitted from the side for the biggest matches, although he did start in their 3-0 Champions League semi-final first leg win over Atletico Madrid on Tuesday.

Tottenham are aiming to keep their title challenge alive on Friday night when they make the short journey to West Ham for an all-London clash at the former Olympic Stadium.

Pochettino’s side will narrow the gap on leaders Chelsea to one point, for 24 hours at least, if they win their 10th Premier League match in a row.
