Tottenham fans on Twitter were impressed by the display of reported transfer target Joel Veltman in Ajax’s Europa League final defeat against Manchester United on Wednesday.
The 25-year-old started the match at the Friends Arena and played the full 90 minutes in the right-back spot as Ajax fell to a 2-0 defeat with goals coming from Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mkhitaryan on either side of half time.
The performance of the Ajax star caught a lot of interest from Tottenham fans watching the match with the 14-time capped Holland international linked with a move to north London.
Now, it is thought that Tottenham fans on social media hope he follows his wife’s advice, as many commented that they were excited by what they saw from Veltman despite him playing for the losing side.
One fan stated that the defender looked “cool, calm and collected,” while another said “he’s been very good.”
Here are a selection of their messages on Twitter:
In a summer where Wimmer will leave and maybe even Walker I've been very impressed with Veltman ????????

@MarcBenamram Seems to have that attacking mentality, but I have only just watched him tonight. More to watch. #THFC

@TheTHFC @MarcBenamram We haven't had much of a chance to see him getting forward too much but defensively he looks really good. Cool, calm and collected. #THFC

30 minutes of scouting Veltman and I've decided he's good enough to be back up RB or RCB in a 3 at the back formation next year for us #Coys

Veltman joined Ajax in 2001 at the age of just nine before breaking through the youth ranks 11 years later with his debut coming in August 2012.
He has gone on to play in 121 matches for the Dutch giants and can also play as a centre-back.
