Gary Lineker believes Tottenham striker Harry Kane has the same “drive” to score goals as Cristiano Ronaldo does.

The Match of the Day presenter thinks that Kane is “becoming” a world-class player if he has not already reached that status.

The 23-year-old recently concluded the Premier League season as the top marksman for the 2016/17 campaign after finding the back of the net on 29 occasions from his 30 matches.

For the second season running, he claimed the Golden Boot award, beating the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Sergio Aguero, Diego Costa and Alexis Sanchez to that top prize.

Former Spurs forward Lineker was full of praise for Kane as he stated where him and Real Madrid great Ronaldo compare.

“I can say he’s excellent and he’s becoming – if he’s not already – a world-class striker,” Lineker told FourFourTwo. “I like his mindset – he loves playing at a high level, he’s not afraid of it.

“I don’t want to compare him to Cristiano Ronaldo because he is one of the great players of all-time, but Harry has the drive to score goals that someone like he has. He will shoot from anywhere, and I love that.”

Four-time FIFA Ballon d’Or winner Ronaldo is regarded as one of the greatest players to have played the game.

The Portugal international, who shot onto the world scene whilst at Manchester United, has scored an incredible 522 goals in 684 club matches.

This has seen him win numerous titles, including three Premier League trophies, three European Cups and most recently lifting the European Championships with his home country.

Ronaldo can add another European trophy to his cabinet when Madrid play Italian giants Juventus in the Champions League final next month in Cardiff.

By contrast, during his career, Kane has struck 99 goals in all competitions for Tottenham and he will be looking to break records of his own.
