Tottenham academy product Jack Roles has confirmed that he has signed his first professional contract with the club.

The 18-year-old midfielder broke the news on Monday on his personal Instagram account that he has agreed to a deal with the Premier League side.

Roles’ current deal was due to expire next month but the youngster will no doubt be pleased that he will be staying on at White Hart Lane.

Over the course of the season, he has played 27 matches for Spurs at youth level, scoring an impressive 16 goals with four assists.

Attacking-midfielder Roles will now be looking to continue his rise in the team and possibly play for the under-21 side next season.

The likes of Harry Winks and Harry Kane are prime examples of players who have broken into the first team having come through the academy system.

Striker Kane recently won back-to-back Golden Boot awards after scoring 29 Premier League goals in 30 matches for a Tottenham team that finished the campaign as runners-up.

The England international has been a key player for Mauricio Pochettino in recent seasons, helping the Argentine secure back-to-back Champions League places.
