Huddersfield Town are hoping to secure the signing of West Ham striker Ashley Fletcher and have already made an approach, according to a report in the Mirror

The newspaper claims that the recently-promoted Premier League club are planning to make the 21-year-old their first summer signing.

It is said that manager David Wagner wants to snap up the former Manchester United man on a season-long loan and have enquired to the Hammers about whether they would allow him to move to Yorkshire.

Fletcher moved to the London Stadium last summer as a free agent after his contract with Manchester United expired.

However, he struggled to settle into his new home and failed to score a single Premier League goal during his 16 appearances this season.

One of the main contributing factors behind his struggle was the fact that he only started two league matches under Bilic throughout the campaign.

The report also states that Championship trio, Fulham, Middlesbrough and Norwich are also interested in his services.

During his career, Fletcher has also played for Barnsley in League One, helping the Yorkshire club earn promotion to the Championship by scoring nine goals and supplying six assists during his time at Oakwell.

Wagner’s side secured their dramatic promotion to the top tier of English football by beating Reading via a penalty shootout in the play-off finals on Monday.
