Christian Atsu has revealed his joy on Twitter after completing a permanent move to Newcastle on Wednesday afternoon.

The north east club revealed on their official website that the Ghana international had sealed a switch to Rafa Benitez’s side, after a successful season-long loan spell at St. James’ Park last term.

Atsu, who joins permanently from Premier League champions Chelsea, has signed a four-year contract with the Toon after making 35 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies last season.

Posting on his personal Twitter account, the 25-year-old winger told fans that he was “delighted to sign permanently” and “can’t wait to get started” ahead of the Toon’s return to the Premier League.

During his loan spell, Atsu scored five goals as he helped Newcastle gain an instant return to the top flight of English football as champions.

The flying wide man even scored twice in his final three appearances against Rotherham and Cardiff, as well as laying on three assists for Benitez’s men.

Atsu has endured a difficult time at Stamford Bridge following his move to Chelsea from Portuguese giants Porto in the summer of 2013.

Known for his struggles with injury, Atsu has been loaned out to the likes of Bournemouth, Malaga and Everton as he failed to make a single senior appearances for Chelsea.

However, the 53-time international now looks to have found a home and becomes the first signing of what is likely to be a busy summer transfer window for Newcastle.
