Newcastle are the second favourites to sign Manchester City player Aaron Mooy this summer, according to the latest betting odds.

Leading bookmaker Sky Bet have placed odds of 3/1 for Mooy to move to St James’ Park following the north-east club’s promotion to the Premier League.

Chris Hughton’s Brighton, who were also promoted this season, are currently the favourites for the midfielder’s signature as they are priced at 9/4.

Mooy, 26, is currently out on a season-long loan with Championship play-off finalists Huddersfield Town.

The betting market suggests that the Australian midfielder will be on the move once again in the summer as he is 9/1 to stay at the Etihad Stadium after September 3.

Rafa Benitez’ side won the Championship title on the last day of the season as they will be looking to bolster their squad ahead of a return to the top flight.

Mooy, who will be looking to help Huddersfield Town beat Reading in the play-off final, is priced at 3/1 to re-sign for his current club next season.

Over the course of the campaign, he has been a key figure in David Wagner’s side, playing 45 Championship matches, scoring four goals and supplying seven assists.

Mooy’s ability to provide defensive solidity from the middle of the park added with the attacking threat saw him named in the Championship Team of the Year.

Sydney-born Mooy is yet to make a senior appearance for his parent club, who are currently managed by Pep Guardiola.
