Rafa Benitez wants a reunion with Napoli goalkeeper Pepe Reina – and Newcastle supporters on Twitter would welcome his signing.
The Sun claimed on Saturday evening that Benitez wants to sign the former Liverpool shot-stopper and bring him back to the Premier League.
It said that the recently promoted Premier League club are hoping to do a deal soon with the experienced 34-year-old, who is currently playing in Serie A.
Reina worked closely with Benitez during their time at Liverpool, with the World Cup winner making 395 appearances for the Merseyside club.
Many Newcastle supporters reacted positively to the news that Reina could possibly be heading to St James’ Park in the summer.
One supporter stated, “hope Rafa can work his magic” as he was in favour of the two-time European Championship winner joining the club.
Some fans think that Reina would be a leader in the dressing room and more importantly, they believe he would use his experience to help the youngsters.
The Magpies recently earned promotion back to the top tier of English football by winning the Championship on the last day of the season, with Karl Darlow being the club’s goalkeeper throughout the campaign.

I've always liked Pepe Reina but he was very error prone last time he was in the PL. Apparently great distribution. Something we need? #NUFC

During his time with Napoli, Reina has played 47 matches in all competitions for the Italian giants, helping them secure 14 clean sheets during those matches.
He was also a regular member between the sticks as Napoli reached the last 16 stage of the Champions League before they were knocked out by current finalist Real Madrid over two legs.
