RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita’s £50million price tag “will pose no issues” for Liverpool as they prepare to shatter their transfer record to sign him, according to a Goal report.

The football website claims the Reds are in a “strong position” to sign the 22-year-old and that preliminary talks between his representatives and the Merseysiders have been positive.

Goal report that Liverpool are aware of firm interest from other clubs in the goalscoring midfielder.

It is said Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp rates Keita as a top-class player who is among the best in the world in his position and he will not be put off by Leipzig’s hefty asking price.

Keita has been deployed by Leipzig as a box-to-box midfielder and as a attacking midfielder this term, and has been a mainstay of their side, making 32 appearances in all competitions, scoring eight goals and providing eight assists.

The 22-year-old shares the same agency as Liverpool ace Sadio Mane as well, which could be a helpful element in the club’s attempts to sign him.

However Leipzig do not want to sell him after securing Champions League football for next season and expect him to report for fitness tests on July 3, ahead of the start of pre-season training on July 5.

The 22-year-old has been capped 18 times by Guinea, scoring two goals.
